Standard Answer

In the future, reappraisers ought to reply as follows to any criticism anyone might have of any innovation they wish to introduce:

God is clearly doing a new thing in the diocese of Los Angeles. The folks there are simply being church and living into the all inclusiveness of God’s love. We’ll all get a chance to share our story and do some theology. As for same sex marriage, well, that’s complicated, but by embracing the listening process, walking through life’s labyrinth, and living into the reality that there is much pain in the church right now and we have to allow time for healing, we will all be less shellfish.

Press Release 6/18/2058

(ENS)The Episcopal Church will celebrate one of our unique Saints Days today. The Feast Day that marks the martyrdom of Saint Gene is commemorated every year on June 17th. On this day in 2008, the saint was cruelly snubbed by the entire Anglican Communion in Lambeth England.

For the first time in six years all five Episcopalians are expected to gather at the church's meeting room at 815 Second Ave (Just enter past the Masjid and take the elevator to the sub basement. The meeting room is between the Unitarian/Universalist headquarters and the New Original Drifters office. It should be clearly marked).

Presiding Bishop Fox, after being revived, said "It's gonna be really swell." All four remaining bishops are going to be there, including the previously estranged Bishop Moretz of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Bethlehem, Newark, Navaholand, North and South Dakota, San Joaquin, El Camino Real and Hawaii.

When contacted about the reconciliation, he said "It's about time that we all had some face time together. And I finally had enough frequent flyer points to get the first class upgrade to New York."

Extra oxygen tanks will be supplied to all participants, so the ceremony should be pretty lively. All are welcome.

(AP) {Bangfiller: Add as follow up} When contacted about the Saint Gene, the Anglican archbishop of New York, Robert Anis, said "Saint who? I do not believe I am familiar with the saint. Are there really Episcopalians still around?"

The Love Song of the Rev Dr Martin Dudley

I know the video is from the 90's, but it does have a 70's feel to it. George Benson recorded it first, in the late 70's.

Proposed Revision to Canadian Flag

Our spies in British Columbia have sent us what the BC HRC want the new Canadian flag to look like. I'm sure Mr Warman and Bishop Ingham will both be equally thrilled.

Oh, and if anyone wants to bring me up in front of a Human Rights Commission tribunal, I'm an American and I live, work and blog in America. I'm also an attorney. Bring it on.

Yet more background.

Canadian Theatrics

Iowahawk has discovered a script for a vintage Canadian radio play. Well worth the visit!

For those who wish to know more, here is some background.

Ockham Mart is now open for business

Check it out!

Why 1976 you ask? Well, that's the year the Right Reverend John Shelby Spong was ordained bishop. It marks the beginning of an era.

A New Saints Day

We here at Billy Ockham have learned of the existence of a new saint. His martyrdom will be commemorated on July 17th beginning on its one year anniversary in 2009, right before the General Convention of 2009 (I certainly hope I got my tenses right).

We look forward to the development of a new collect and in fact a whole liturgy to memorialize the witness of a simple country bishop. July 17th will forever be known in Episcopal church history as the "Feast of the Snubbing of Saint V. Gene Robinson".

We here at Ockham Manor plan to celebrate his martyrdom by grilling out if the weather is nice, otherwise we'll just crack open a beer and maybe watch Top Gear or some sports.

Anglican Chat Session

Chris Johnson over at MCJ has been kind enough to post the text of a chat session that was held recently. Mr. Johnson is and remains a comic genius.

Obscure Abuse

If the next diocese to leave the Episcopal Church used the following language in their departure amendment, I'd laugh myself silly.

"The visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men, in which the pure Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ’s ordinance, in all those things that of necessity are requisite to the same.
As the Church of Jerusalem, Alexandria, Antioch and Rome, have erred; so also the Episcopal Church hath erred, not only in their living and manner of Ceremonies, but also in matters of Faith."

Paraphrase of Article XIX.

I know no one else probably finds it funny........
