Mark Harris Has Made a Video
And in it poses the question: Why not belong to the Episcopal Church?
I agree with all of the facts stated in his powerpoint presentation and almost none of the opinions.
The continued splintering of the Bride of Christ is a definite grievance. However, I well understand the desire to leave. I probably will not be leaving myself until after the next General Convention. If I do leave, it will likely not be for a splinter group.
You see, the problem with Mr Harris video is that it the arguments it makes can even be more forcefully be made by the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches.
They have the added advantage of being authentically Christian. The Episcopal Church no longer has that. There are Christians still in the Episcopal Church. Its doctrine is largely Christian, but the hierarchy mostly is not.
The same is not true for either the Orthodox or the Catholics.
As for how I will make my decision, assuming it becomes necessary? My decision will based upon my understanding of what God has called His church to be, and after much prayer and exploration. It will not be based upon picking and choosing doctrines and practices because of my individual preference.
Religion is not Baskin-Robbins. There are not 31 flavours. There is only one.
