Very strange list. A lot of very notable books are missing. They have McGuire's 'Wicked' but not a mention of L. Frank Baum's original OZ books. And where is there mention of E.E. Doc Smith? I'd have to nominate L. Neil Smith's 'Pallas' or 'Henry Martyn' over many of their choices. Likewise, where is any mention of David Weber, Harry Harrison, Harry Turtledove, Steve Stirling, or Gordon Dickson?
Of course, it IS NPR's list, so it's bound to be illogical.
Strange how many of these books that I have read.
I think the Oz series are probably catagorized as Fantasy, although the Tick Tock Man might make the grade as SciFi.
