The Brady Campaign (the anti-gun, anti-fun wingnuts) have released their 2007 rankings of the states and Georgia came in tied with Vermont and Texas in 29th place.
The difference in points between #1 California (79 points) and #49 Kentucky and Oklahoma (2 points) is 77 points. Georgia had 9 points, so we are only 7 points higher than the bottom feeders. I have every confidence that with diligence and hard work we can be last in the nation, where we belong.
Also interesting is that all but 12 of the states have 20 points or less. The big divide is between #8 Hawaii (43 points) and #9 Illinois (28 points).
My dream is that one day we will have a zero point nation and all 50 states will be tied for last.

And their criteria are sheer idiocy.
1) Assault weapons. Define it. Go on, I dare you.
2) Childproof handguns. No such thing, so why use it as a criteria?
3) Manufacture accountability. For what? Misuse? Absurd!
4) Registration. Always leads to a huge black market. Or tyranny. Or both.
5) Waiting period. Has killed people who were being stalked.
6) Ballistic 'fingerprinting'. With five cartridges and an emery board, I can change it.
7) Child-safety locks. "Please wait, Mr. Murderer, while I unlock my gun."
8) No guns on campus. They obviously want more VA Tech style events.
9) Large magazines. Usually predators attack in packs, so lets limit the victim's rounds.
Enough. I could write for hours, and it's late and I'm tired.
Suffice it to say that these people are 'useful idiots' of the first rate.
Beat 'ya. Louisiana garnered 4 points. Here's hoping we can make it Zero, too.
Which reminds me - I need to take my 14 year old daughter to the range this week. She's been asking
