My irony meter just broke

A local art museum is hosting a benefit for the American Diabetes Association. Sounds like a noble cause, right? I'm diabetic, so I'm very much in favour of the cause. It's the means that raised a few eyebrows around here.

Why not have a lard festival for the Heart Association or, better still, a liquor raffle for AA?

I'm diabetic too, and I'm all about fundraising for research for a cure. But all I gotta say about this is GOOD GRIEF! And that little bit they had on the ad about it's OK for diabetics to eat sugar as part of a balanced meal... I have this feeling their sugar pizza (or whatever the heck that was) is not actually what the nutrition experts were talking about, huh? ::sigh:: Someone deserves a forehead-slap for this one.

As a father of a Type-1 diabetic 8yr old daughter, this is insane.

DOH! Then again, I find ADA approved sugar free candy with sugar alcohol replacing the sugar....
