Hmmm... Much more effective "security": issue every citizen a handgun and teach them how to use it. A smart nation might even make the carrying of a weapon mandatory.

I keep thinking that David Brin is right; the technology is here and it will be used; but there is a way to hack the Big Brother thing.

Brin calls it Transparent Society - but the basic idea is simple; Let the police have their CCTVs. We get a CCTV in the monitoring station.

You can extend this to any of the BB ideas; the cops monitor who they will, we monitor what they're doing with the information.

I don't say this will be easy to implement (grin).
